one year ago today...
10:17 p.m. - september 11th 2002

Today marks exactly one year since that tragic day, that no one will forget about in the history of America. I refuse to call it the "Anniversary of 9/11" because it's most definately not. Anniversaries are supposed to be happy days, this not being one of them.

I was amazed by how many people wore their red, white and blue today. Believe it or not, there are still those days that mcdowell ceases to amaze me. The patriotism displayed today was awesome. At exactly 10:05, our entire school had a few minutes of silence, and then stood up and pledged to the flag. Even the canadian in my class stood up out of respect.

My entire psychology class lesson was dedicated to the happenings of last year. Everyone was able to share their opinions, and share where they were when they found out, and how they felt. Sanford let us discuss whatever we wanted, and I think thats just what we needed. Even though it happened a year ago, the memory is still strong in everyones mind, and its just not something you can, or ever will forget.

He brought up a good point as to how this whole thing has changed us. Not even giving it thought, I blurted out something along the lines of "It showed me that I should never take my life for granted. It helped me to realize how precious life really is, and just how quickly it can be taken away from us" So very true.

I still can't believe it's been a year already. It seems like it happened only days ago.The image of those burning buildings, and crashing planes is forever burned in my mind. I never experienced a personal loss out of this, but I can surely sympathize with everyone that did, or anyone that was affected by this in any way.

Last May I went to NYC (as you recall) and I had the opportunity to actually see "ground zero" and trust me, even though most of the rubble was cleaned up by then, its still not something you want to look at everyday. It's just that harsh reminder of how hateful this world can be, and how we as a nation need to work together to stop this.

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me"

"Terrorist attacks can shake the foundation of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America"

God Bless America...Never Forget 9.11
